Only 2% of Fishermen Will Know What This is
I painted my trailer with Rust-Oleum, it came out amazing.
Your great. That was very educational. I like how you even left in the mishaps. And your little boy and that happy dance at the end was an epic finish. We just bought our new canvas from Near Creek and now we wait for its arrival.
Awesome. But the lid is only plywood. I would have definitely put rubber matting on the lid
Room inside was getting a little tight, so I had to make the lid a little thinner so it would shut. Otherwise having rubber on the lid would have helped. Thanks for the comment.
Wow’s what a cool ride 😊🚤
I've been having some fun riding around in other peoples boats. I will have a couple more speed tests coming up too. Good to hear from you Robert. Have you been getting any fishing in yourself?
@@GoMidwestFishing yes the last 3 weekends camping with some fishing 🎣 on the side 😊
What was the spacing between the 2x3's and how many? What was the distance from the rear for the ac? I have a 2000 Dutchman.
Its been a while since I did this, so I don't remember all the specs. I believe I spaced them at 24 inches. I put the AC at the high point on the roof, so all the water would drain away from it. Its probably best to keep the AC near the center to balance the weight since the roof moves up and down. Good luck on your repair!
This is something I have been looking into too. The tough part is cost of solar is getting to the point where for around $1000 you can build or buy a 200ah lithium battery and adequate solar panels to keep the battery going and you just need a basic inverter to get 110v. I still like the box idea as a backup though
Solar does seem to be a popular choice these days. I think it would work well for just keeping the basics charged up, but for charging things like deep cycle marine batteries, you need a lot of power. I'm fishing all day when the sun is out, so the only time I can charge it is in the evening, so solar isn't going to cut it. It would be nice to have the option of either one though.
@@GoMidwestFishing Could you just get two Lithium batteries and keep one hooked up to your boat and the other on shore charging and then swap them at night? I replaced the deep cycle batter with two Lithium batteries that weighed less than the one deep cycle and basically doubled my battery life.
Seacast is better. This is an amature rebuild.
That was an awesome ride!
I had a lot of fun making this one. Plus I had a beautiful lake to do it on too. Thanks Fernando.
Yea, a zillion Round Lakes! The funny thing is most of them aren’t even that ROUND! Ha!
They should call them roundish lakes. I've never fished a perfectly round lake!
Use Industrial Grade Noctua Fans. You can shave off 10-15 dBs with that swap out.
Thanks for the tip. Do they run on 110 AC?
Ok, this is triggering me in all the right ways. Gotta ask… how much did you have all in to get it done, and how long did it take? I’m debating on either rebuilding mine, or doing this.
Its been a while, but I think I put $1500 into the roof. It took about a month to do. That was just working on it when I had spare time, a few hours here and there. I'm sure supply costs had gone up quite a bit now, so you would have to price it out. The corners and trim pieces were difficult to find too. The superflex worked great though. Good luck. I hope it works out for you.
Is it possible to make the box a bit wider for 2 generators? Would I need double the fans? Would you recommend insulation in between each generator? I’m sorry if these questions are stupid. I’m a beginner. Thank you for any advice you can give
Hey, I'm a beginner too. These are all good questions. You can make the box any size you want. I will warn you though, that this box was heavy! If you want it to be portable, it will have to stay small. Otherwise, you can make it as heavy as you want if it will stay stationary. I think some insulation between generators would help dampen the noise. Just make sure they each have adequate air flow for cooling. Good luck on the build!
The one you linked not being the same won’t work with a cover. Do you have a link to the one you actually installed
I was actually able to find it. Here it is: amzn.to/4cAP3gX This is the same one, but it also has the mesh on the front rack to protect your window.
Great video Rande!
Thanks!
That is horrible actually. I was going to get a jet and glad I didn’t!
I was surprised at the efficiency loss. This boat will be used for going up shallow rivers, so it works great for that. It has its purpose, but probably not for the everyday fisherman.
Why boat manufacturers still use wood when there's so many non rotting waterproof materials is beyond common sense! Id bet it IS so the boat rots and you HAVE to buy a NEW one... PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE/JOB SECURITY!
Very cool run and boat!
I caught the best prime rib at Louies Landing on moose lake. Awesome place to eat
Its a beautiful area, if they could just get rid of the mosquitoes. I will check out Louie's next time I'm in town.
Interesting how they rate it a 115 with a prop and a 80 with a jet. Pretty efficient set up.
I'm rebuilding a inboard Crestliner phantom 17.5 all welded hull with a 175 sportjet for river running. I wonder how fast that will be? Only thing I am kinda worried about is the lack of a real trim system. Going to rework/reinvent the jet nozzle and ad a horizontal pivot system so I can trim it while under power.
It would be nice to have tilt/trim. The neat thing about this setup is that the jet pump sits level with the boat transom, so you don't even have to tilt it up when launching the boat.
My 1993 2 stroke 40 Mariner (Yammaha) motor goes 30mph on my Alumnicraft Backtroller. Though next time I'll get a wider boat with a 4 stroke. That's a nice boat!
So far all the boats I've tested are in the 30mph range. That's pretty good to go 30mph with a 40HP motor. Thanks for the info.
Hi Rande! As soon as the video started we knew you were at Adam and Phyllis's house! Great to see you two together! The Yamaha performed well! Audio was perfect! Another great video!
I've been working hard on getting good audio, so I appreciate that you noticed! I have several more videos coming from Alaska, and I'm excited to see how they turn out. I may have to make a few more visits up there. Thanks P and J.
@@GoMidwestFishing So excited to see your upcoming videos! We are definitely planning a trip ourselves! Not sure when yet but it's happening!
I'll assume it's not a tunnel....The jet sure makes for running skinny water!!😎
I'm hoping to go back up to Alaska so he can show me how it runs up a shallow river. Many more adventures to be had. Thanks Wes.
I like it very cool my friend
I wonder what's the gas mileage is versus a prop engine against the jet engine
It’s horrible
I looked up the specs, and it shows everything but the fuel burn, so I'm not sure.
The rump buster at 32mph 😂
Yeah i watched your first video but had not subscribed but caught this video and subscribed, i thought you did a mighty fine job, it's working, it's holding bravo man
4 years later it is still holding up great, so I will call that a win. I appreciate the subscribe!
FYI, in Wisconsin it is illegal to motor while someone is sitting in front of the boat on the platform.
Thanks for the info. I did not know that. I will look it up.
I'd hate to be a snake in that lake! 😂
Speaking of snakes, I just had a snake swim across the water and tried to get in my boat! Maybe I should have put him on my line.
@@GoMidwestFishing Wow that's freaky!
Have you ever fished Trout lake in Vilas County?
Hi Frank from Chicago (Great name).I have not been to trout lake yet. It was one I was considering while up there. Would it be a good lake to try?
@@GoMidwestFishing It's a big, deep Glacier lake, I always fished the South end of the lake, you gotta be careful of the depth, it will go from 50 ft to boulders in a flash, some huge fish if you can find them. I'd love to see your take on fishing that lake. Theres a narrows that separates the North and South.
13:32 there is my maroon boat lift cover in Buzzards Bay
You'd be surprised how many times people see themselves or their house in my videos. Congrats! You made the video.
Gas lantern wins because it’ll work in any temperature, and it’s brighter than LED with natural light that doesn’t have a high frequency headache inducing strobe.
Thanks for the vote. We have a lot of gas lantern lovers here, so you are in good company.
This was a great adventure heck yeah! As always an amazing job on putting all the footage together… yeah we have to enjoy the smoke while we can
What bit you off? Gar! What made the scars on those northern? Gar! LOL! But seriously, the book says gar are present in this lake, and probably that whole chain! I always thought gar were in southern waters, but who knows I guess!
Well, a Gar sure would make it more interesting. I have never caught a gar before, but I have seen some in northern waters, so they do exist.
Where is Pine Lake? Waukesha County.
Found it, thanks.
Great job man I bet he was thrilled
You boys had a great day! Heck of a rock bass. No joke. Great largie at the end.
It was a great trip. This whole area was good fishing. I will have to come back here, there are hundreds more to fish! Thanks Dpuck.
Wow’s great video and thanks for sharing your experience on this lake. With the wind 💨 and rain 🌧️ you still got some great fishing 🎣 in. Thanks From Wisconsin
The fish seem to enjoy the wind and rain, it just makes it more miserable for us. It was another successful day on the lake. Thanks for watching Robert.
Rande you gotta release the 22-26" pike in that lake. I enjoy your show, but please read up and follow obvious regulations. I tell my kids: "don't be a rebel without a cause." In this case, I'm guessing you just had no clue and did not know you were rebelling. Or maybe not? I'd also love to hear a response/excuse.
Thank you for the heads ups. We rarely keep fish, so I missed that one. I always look at the regs posted at the landings, and it doesn't say it there, so I thought we were good. Not trying to be a Rebel.
Great lake, but you might want to brush up on fishing regulations. "North central The majority of the state is in the north-central zone, where the issue is overpopulation of small pike. The objectives are to allow more harvest of abundant small pike and shift population size structure to more medium-sized pike. The north-central regulation zone starts on a line stretching roughly from Hastings to just south of the Twin Cities and over to Ortonville; and in the north from Duluth along U.S. Highway 53 until it reaches International Falls. In the north-central zone, anglers can keep 10 northern pike, but not more than two pike longer than 26 inches; and all from 22 to 26 inches must be released. Northern pike taken by spearing follow the same rules except one pike may be between 22 and 26 inches or two larger than 26 inches."
I sincerely apologize for that. It was not intentional. I've been fishing WI a lot and had those regs in my head. That's for the info.
I went through the same thing 20 years ago, I was using a diesel generator I said heat source an electrical source for my house. on the really low end you run into the decompression on the carburetors ,and explosion of the muffler , that is a 60 HZ Soundwave, lower in eco mode.
Interesting. Thanks for the info.
Otter tail county and near Detroit Lakes got my attention. I had a friend in Hawley, not far from this area. He talked of Big Cormorant Lake being really good too.
So far all the lakes we fished there were awesome. (OK, we had a tough day on Ottertail lake) but what an amazing area. I need to go back and fish more lakes there. I have several more coming up from there, so stay tuned.
When you're looking for variety for a fish fry you can't beat those results!!😎
It was a delicious fish fry. Great way to end the day. Thanks Wes.
